Ardra means the "green" or "the moist one" or "the wet one". Ardra is a reference to freshness, wetness and newness. Ardra represents the mind or thinking capacity, the essential characteristic of human beings, symbolized by the "human head". The head is the seat of the brain and the other glands related to the mind, the jewel in man's body.
Rudra the howler and the god of storms, lightening and a provider of medicine is the tutelary archetype associated with this nakshatra. He is a fierce looking god and an aspect of Shiva. He is a destructive aspect of Shiva who brings chaos and confusion. He can instill fear on men and other gods. He is also a protector against enemies.
This nakshatra is represented by a teardrop, which can symbolize both sorrow and renewal. Those born under Ardra usually go through intense lessons to clear old patterns and gain new understanding. Rahu, the ruling planet of Ardra, also brings disorder and a thirst for knowledge. Clearly, this star is a spiritually fertile domain.
Ardra native lives outside the norms of his culture. He is forever challenging the boundaries of conventionality and orthodoxy. Those born under this nakshatra have an investigative mind and are oriented toward research. They are not afraid to voice opinions or use intimidation.
This nakshatra makes the natives undergo transformation, producing knowledge or confusion in its wake. The highest level of Ardra is transformation through cleansing. This is an extremely sensitive star that links mental ability to emotion. The indiviuals try to relate to ëmayaí on an intellectual level. It is characterized by the birth of the intellect which harmonizes the wanderings of the previous nakshatra, Mrigashira. Ardra rather likes to analyse the cause behind the function.
Ardra Nakshatra inspires us to put in greater efforts (Yatna Shakti) in life that can bring great rewards, but not without persistence and a bit of luck. Rudra is the hunter and the wielder of the bow. The idea here also suggests aiming of the arrow and hitting the target. For this one must have a good aim, as well as strength to shoot. Rudra is also the lord of wild animals.
Ardra makes the native sweet-tongued, socialite, respected in social circle, pure hearted, at times regretful, timid, in poor health, ordinary financial status, at times indulgence in dishonorable acts due to lack of foresight.
